In the warm countryside of Andalusia, a young shepherd named Santiago wandered peacefully across rolling hills with his flock of sheep.
His life was simple.
Each morning he woke with the sun.
Each evening he slept beneath the stars.
His sheep trusted him completely. They followed wherever he led them, satisfied with grass, water, and shelter.
But Santiago was different.
He did not want to live his whole life in one place.
He had once studied in a seminary because his parents wanted him to become a priest. But the boy had chosen another path.
He wanted to see the world.
Books had shown him stories of distant lands. But reading about the world was not enough for him.
He wanted to walk those roads himself.
So he became a shepherd.
Traveling with his sheep allowed him to wander freely through villages, fields, and ancient ruins.
Yet despite this freedom, something strange began happening.
A dream.
Not just once.
But again and again.
One evening Santiago arrived at an old abandoned church where he often spent the night.
The roof had partially collapsed, and in the middle of the ruined building stood a large tree growing toward the sky.
Santiago tied his sheep nearby and lay down to sleep.
The stars glittered above him.
And once again…
The dream returned.
In the dream, a mysterious child appeared and took his hand.
The child guided him across deserts and distant lands until they stood before the majestic Egyptian Pyramids.
The child pointed toward the sand and said:
“There is a treasure buried here.”
Santiago’s heart raced.
He began digging excitedly in the sand.
But just as he was about to uncover the treasure…
He woke up.
The dream ended.
Just like before.
Santiago sat up in frustration.
Why did the dream always stop at that moment?
Why did it keep returning?
Dreams normally disappear quickly, but this one felt different.
It lingered in his mind like a quiet voice trying to guide him.
Was it just imagination?
Or was it a sign?
Santiago did not know yet.
But somewhere deep inside him, curiosity had already begun its work.
And curiosity has the power to change a life.
Lesson from This Episode
Sometimes life plants a dream inside us for a reason.
Most people ignore those dreams because they feel too strange, too risky, or too impossible.
But the first step toward discovering our destiny often begins with simply paying attention to what keeps calling us.
